What a good news, it’s like I finally see an island from far after a long sail.
Well, the reason why I like silverlight so much can be a long story. It even relates to how I start to involve myself so much in computing.
Story
Back to 3/4 years ago, I have only a Pentium 2/3 (forgot) computer which it can hardly run any game, so I could do nothing much with my computer. One day, while I am browsing a CD content (packed with programs installers), I saw “Macromedia Flash MX 2004″ . As I am quite attracted to the word “Flash”, I’ve installed it to give it a try. And yeah, my computer can support.
I was so excited right after I’ve found that this software actually allows me to create animation. Stickmans, music videos, games, presentations are what I used to do last time with flash. With some actionscript, I could do something interactive with my animation. At that time, I’ve even thought that flash designer is the path I am going. But somehow, I was influenced by few people that programming is a better choice to go with. Btw, my “very artistic” nature is also one of the reason stopping me from flash. And so, I’ve started to stick with programming.
Soon, I am addicted to C# programming (Introduced by my uncle). I was so excited after I know I can do anything with it as long as the idea is there. But somehow, I was still hoping that I can do something cool like an animated user interface. Not considering DirectX as one of the option or Adobe Flex (Not even available on that time), I was hoping that I could integrate flash into my form application. But to do that, the process is quite troublesome and sometimes the result is not so appealing. So I’ve no choice but to abandon the thought.
So the story is obviously coming to an end. And Yes, WPF/Silverlight have exactly solved the problem. Integrating Design and Programming. Eventhough I know actionscript can do the same thing, but somehow I prefer Visual Studio as my IDE , C# as the language ^^ . Now you know why I am so excited with WPF/Silverlight?
And not to forget, JULY 21 is a very special day for me and yenyen! 2 years anniversary!
